Our beaches are clean, clear and complete with shells. This picture was taken this morning at Blind Pass on Captiva Island. Pristine! This says it all.

- Captiva Island Sparkling water for your table | i Love Shelling - [...] enjoyed the water from last week’s post One Picture, A Million Words so much that I couldn’t resist taking…
I have been there when the shells pile up like this- takes my breath away! Thank you, Pam for the photos!!
Thanks for the beautiful picture. It appears that the Gulf water has been clearer than usual this spring. I would love to be there.
What a gorgeous picture!!! We are coming on Saturday and I can hardly stand it! Saturday can’t come soon enough. Thx for posting such a great picture!
Oh my goodness!!!!!!! Ugh i wanna be there now!!!!! those shells are calling my name!!!! Also, my mom got me this awesome shirt that says ” militant sheller, step away from that junonia and no one gets hurt!” But anyways, that water is sooooooo beautiful!!!! thanks for sharing that picture with us!!
Pam,
I’ve been a follower for a while and love your updates. I too am a shell collector, but sadly don’t find too many on the beaches of Galveston. My husband and I are in the beginning stages of planning a trip to Sanibel this summer…early fall. I am just is awe of your pictures! Do you have any suggestions on places to stay? We have a poodle that MUST come with us…she’s family. Thanks!
Sharlotte
I posted down below but then noticed I could reply here. LOL Sharlotte, check out Mitchell’s Sandcastles, their website mitchellssandcastles.com. They do accept ‘family members’ for a fee per day. ; ) They are on West Gulf Drive. Looks like a quieter location than some resorts. They have cottages large and small. Check out their website. Lots of Luck! Wish I could be there.
Hey there. This is an older post, but if you come back – we are here right now with our two dogs and stay at http://www.signalinn.com on Middle Gulf Drive. PERFECT place to stay with pets. We come every year just because of how ideal they make vacationing with the “babies”.
Thanks for the info, Jennifer. I was just at your beach this afternoon and I saw 2 different “sets” of dogs… maybe I saw you. The shelling is great there right now so I will be back at low tide- maybe I’ll see you!
It’s truly breathtaking! Thank You!!!
Just when I talk myself out of going this weekend (personal reasons) I see this perfect photo :) Thank you for sharing :):)
When I looked at this water this morning, it took my breath away too. I love all of the comments on it! It’s always exciting to see such a response.
Sharlotte, I always see lots of dogs around the island (on leashes) so I would think lots of places accept pets (I mean family members ;) ) now. I would start looking at some of the links I have posted by looking in the CATEGORIES menu on the left side of this page. Scroll down to “Sanibel Hotels”, click on a link and it will take you to posts that I’ve mentioned that hotel and a link to their website. They’ll let you know if they are pet-friendly or not. Hope this helps.
Everytime I come to your website I get a little sad! Sanibel is such a wonderful place to be!
I think i’ll pack the kids up and head to the beach right now! THanks for the beautiful pictures!
The picture almost looks unreal it’s so beautiful! Very clear water and calm, too! Isn’t that unusual for Blind Pass? I’m used to seeing the waves just pounding the shore. Lovely, truly lovely. Thanks, Pam!
Sharlotte – I noticed that Mitchellssandcastles.com is a website for their properties on West Gulf Drive and they take pets, for a fee, that is. And their accomodations look nice. I’ve not stayed there, yet, but will in the future! Good luck.
It’s so gorgeous…, and the shells piling up like that…, what a site!
AWESOME! I hope the beaches stay this clear and beautiful! I live in MN but my heart seems to be in Sanibel. I’ve only had the pleasure to visit twice, but I’ll never forget it and can hardly wait to return . . . someday!
