This is how this all happened……Clark and I were guests of Denice and John Beggs of Beggs Realtors for an evening show of 80’s to the Max at The Herb Strauss Schoolhouse Theater on Sanibel. After having a ball grooving to Madonna and Michael Jackson, intermission was just as fun! I won this gorgeous Nick Adams Photograph by donating to a raffle to raise money for the theater. Now Nick has added on to this giveaway with the free portait and the discount to the sitting fee ….so my luck is now your luck. I’m paying it forward and offering you a chance to win this prize.

Beautiful photograph! I would love to enter to win it. Some people don’t realize how gorgeous Sanibel-Captiva is, but this picture definitely shows it!
I would LOVE to win this spectacular picture and give it a good “home away from home”. I have vowed to visit every 6 months and I am saving for my next visit in November…..I miss Sanibel so much that it hurts! Thanks for your blog and for this opportunity Pam…you are a “shell of a lady”!! Wishing you sun and treasures…..Judie Painter
Absolutely love the photograph, I would love to win it and put some of the wonderful shells, that we have found on past vacations, with the photo. But to have the 50% off the sitting fee would be the great prize. Thanks for the opportunity.
“grooving to Madonna and Michael Jackson” Now that sounds like fun!
I have yet to see light house in real life. The colors in this photograph are magnificent. Good eye Nick. On the funny side- I had zoomed in on the image and guess what? I caught myself checking out the shells too! (✿◠‿ ◠)
This is beautiful! My husband and I are taking our first vacation ever since we’ve been married. To go shelling at Sanibel Island. Your website has been so informative on the tides, moons etc. We’re just waiting on the tourismbook to arrive to figure out where we want to stay. We both love shelling so this is the perfect first vacation without additional family members for just the two of us. The light house portrait would be a great reminder of our trip. Sorry for going on and on. Im just so excited about this vacation to Sanibel whether we win or not.
I long to live in paradise, at least for the winters…..someday! Until then, I live vicariously through island buddies, a close friends blog, as well as your blog. I am so excited when I see new posts. I am a shellaholic and very much enjoy seeing what everyone finds.
I would love nothing more than to have this in my home to have my own little piece of the island, please enter me. Pam I just want to say thanks so much for sharing island life, and for passing forward this beautiful photograph.
So beautiful!!!!! I would love to win this!!!!!
I love, love, love Sanibel and shelling. Coming back down 13th – 20th! Can’t wait! Hope i am the lucky winner of the lighthouse!
Love it! I have a sanibel room in my house, but no lighthouse print yet. I also live vicariously through your blog and those of some of my other sanibel friends!
Thanks for the contest and your blog- I really enjoy reading it as I am stuck in PA! The photograph is beautiful! My favorite spot to shell is right up the beach from the lighthouse!

I love the photo and would love to win it – I love your website – visit it every day
Ahhhh ~ how I would love to display this wonderful photo of the lighthouse at home in Ohio. It would be a wonderful reminder of sun, surf, sand and shelling on Sanibel Island!
My son and I spent several hours at Sanibel Lighthouse, just yesterday. We were fortunate to spot live lightning welks, egrets, starfish, sea anemones, live crabs, and too many shells to list.
Thank you for this opportunity to win this awesome photo ~ it would get nothing but TLC as I love Sanibel Island and shelling!
Oh how I love Sanibel! Spent many early mornings watching the sun rise while out shelling by the Lighthouse. Have found my biggest horse conchs in that area. Hope I win! Thank you!
Please add me to your drawing. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful photo of paradise. My husband and I visited Sanibel & Captiva for the first time in May 2010. We certainly hope to return as often as possible! Even better would be to live there one day!!!
Thanks, Pam, for sharing all of your comments, tips and photos! I enjoy your website every day from NC.
What a beutiful picture, it’s like being there on the beach looking at the beautiful view of the lighthouse!
I would love to enter in the giveaway!
What a fun idea! and how generous of Nick!
Love you blog.
I’ve been doing one of all the exciting everyday things that can happen here on the islands. It is a diary of my experiences over the years even if no one looks at it.
Thank you !
That is a beautiful photgraph! Nick Adams has a very good eye for the beautiful. I would love to display this in my home!
I just love this! I love art and photography and my daughter and I love to shell. Sanibel sounds like the perfect place for us. I’ve never been to Sanibel but I’ll be there in August and I can’t wait. I have a little 7 year old that would be the perfect model if we won. I’m hoping to get the Christmas card picture on the beach this year. Thanks for the chance to win!
Love to win this! LOVED our first trip to Sanibel this past May. Didn’t end up getting a photo of the lighthouse myself so this would be really nice to have!
Great picture of the lighthouse, really captures the essence of the beauty of Sanibel Island.
I would love to see the lighthouse IRL every day, but would be delighted to win Nick’s photo. Please include me in the drawing.
Wow !!! Such beautiful colors, and I would love to frame it a perfect shell frame….. a true tribute to the lighthouse on Sanibel…. I have the perfect Place on my wall……. Janie
“the Lighthouse” is the best place for shelling, in my opinion. I have found many of my best finds there. Especially at low tides. I remember one time there were people finding live alphabet cones about 20 yards off shore.
What a beautiful picture . . . I am 45 years old and just made my first visit to Sanibel Island last month . . . I left a piece of my heart there and can’t wait to go back!
My favorite place on earth :). My happy place! Would luv to win this!
I would love to win the photo and the package. My family has been vacationing on Sanibel since 1989. Every year my kids (now grown) still have to visit the lighthouse and take pictures. We stay at Blind Pass Condos and love the beach there and of course our favorite hobby is shelling!
I have found some of my best shells after a storm at the Lighthouse. Such happy memories. I would love to win the photo!!! We come to Sanibel/Captiva every year with our kids for spring break. The shelling at Blind’s Pass this year was fantastic!
The Absolutley Most Beautiful Place That I have ever Vacationed. Love It!
Please add me to the drawing! I love Sanibel and I worship lighthouses, which makes that beach one of my favorite spots in the world. I’m always wondering when I’ll get to see the lighthouse next… this way I could (sort of) see it every day! :-)
Wow! How exciting, I am so glad my friend Lori has given me this website. I love to look at the pics and want to be in them in August when we come to Sanibel for the 3rd time. Hope to see you out taking phots.

Love his picture of the lighthouse. The colors are outstanding. The only thing that could be better than winning the picture, would be to be shelling on Sanibel by the lighthouse.
We will be in sanibel August 4th to pick up our picture and get your autograph!!!!!!!
Sanibel Island stole my heart over twenty years ago. Although I can only visit once a year, it is an enduring love affair! Thank you for the generous offer of that beautiful photo. It is only exceeded by your generosity in sharing your Sanibel beach adventures and shell finds. Those posts are almost as good as being there in person!
Ah, the Lighthouse. The first and last place I go to when I visit Sanibel Island…
I just spent enough money with Nick to put braces on his first born! I really would love to have a free photograph from him!!!!!!
Holy smokes! What a turn out! I shouldn’t be that surprised since Nick is such an amazing photographer and the lighthouse is the perfect landmark for Sanibel. Love it- keep the comments coming!

Pick me! I know someone that lived at the lighthouse….so it would be fun to give it to them.

Would love to win this photo for my Sister. She takes photos of lighthouses in the U.S., but has never been able to get to Sanibel. I’ve been there twice, but never to the lighthouse, Seem to spend all my time looking for shells. I’m definitely inspired to go there on my next trip to Sanibel!
Thank you, Pam. Thank you, Nick. How fun for you and everyone else.
Please include me in the drawing ;)
super photograph of a super place!…my wife and i love sanibel and would love to display the photograph in our home as a memory of the island and its peacefulness
What a fabulous photo of the lighthouse. I’d love to win it!! Up here in the state of “Illness”, as we call it, there’s nothing that wonderful to visit, and definitely no seashells. I love looking at “I LOVE SHELLING” every day. Thank you so much for this great site. It’s so nice to be able to ‘visit’ Sanibel everyday through your lens.
oh its so beautiful!!! thats so cool how you are doing this pam!!! i would love to have this in my room!!! im keepin my fingers crossed!! thanks for posting so many great pictures and videos!!!
What a beautiful photograph of the Lighthouse. It’s a landmark for those visiting Sanibel. When we visited last Nov. I noticed the Lighthouse beach was visited by “daytrippers” those only able to visit Sanibel for a couple of hours and they were newbies at looking for seashells, it was nice sharing my shells with them and giving them a little help. I always thought of Sanibel for it’s “stoop” but not being to do as much shelling as I usually do, (torn tendons in my foot), I actually sat on the beach on a chair and took in the beauty and smell of paradise. I met lots of wonderful people from all over who share the same love for Sanibel. I love your blog and I think you even quoted me the beginning of Dec. when I said the shells were in at Algiers Beach. Those who follow you can see and feel your love of the beach. Thank you!
Awesome picture!!! would love to have one of his pictures. Thanks for all the updates on Sanibel & Captiva. It gives me with a daily dose of paradise.
I like it! I want to be included in the drawing!
My daughter and her fiance are getting married on Sanibel. This would be a GREAT memory piece for them to hang in their new home together. Please help make a memory for them together as they start their new life together, by picking me, so I can give this BEAUTIFUL print to them. No way to really explain our entire families love of these jewels of the gulf coast!!!!!!!
Just discovered your website last week. I enjoy keeping up with Sanibel shelling news. The lighthouse photo is beautiful. I will enjoy reading your updates. The summer at the beach in NJ is great, but the shelling isn’t :-)
Happy 4th!
I just got your business card from Macintosh books on Periwinkle and I love to see all the beautiful photos of sanibel and shells. I would love to get the photo if I win.
Pam , first off I want to thank you for having a web site I go to at least once a day to bring me a little piece of my ” HAPPY PLACE ” ! I have told my other Sanibel travel buddies about it & they visit you also . I will be there in 2 week from today for a much needed vacation ! Being a single Mom of 2 ( 78 year old Mother with alzhiemers & 16 year old son ) Sanibel is a place where I go to let the everyday stress melt away . Your picture would be a great addition to the Sanibel wall behind my computer desk . Thanks !
Love the lighthouse, stayed on that section on my first trip to Sanibel-Captiva, it hooked us been back a couple of times each year since 06. Love your website, a give away how exciting.
We just spent our 30th anniversary there with our children and grandchildren. This was the first trip for the rest of our family, but my husband and I have been there several times. We would love to win the photo. It would be the perfect anniversary memento!
Please enter me in your contest. It is my dream to come to Sanibel Island. I am a life long seashell fanatic who has had limited chances to go to the beach to collect shells. I am working on trying to convince family members who do not share my passion to make Sanibel our vacation destination next year. Thank you for your wonderful blog. I love to read it each day and image I am there along side you.
This is a beautiful picture! I love the beach and am visiting sanibel in just a few weeks!!! I would absolutely love to hang this picture in my room!!!!
Just returned from a wonderful week at Sanibel. The most peaceful place I have ever found in the USA. I discovered it in 1990, been going almost every year since then. Was there from June 26th until July 3rd. Really hoped to run into you at Lighhouse Beach or Blindpass but no such luck. I was there with my best friend Glenda and her sister Linda.
We really were in the sad lane Saturday morning, me dropping them off at the airport and me driving back to coastal NC.
I would give the picture to Cape Fear Hospice as I feel it would give peace to patients in their last days of life.
Hope to see you next year!!
Please enter me in the contest! Love your blog!
Wow, my husband and I will be coming to Florida for the very first time on August 7th. We have heard so many nice things about the Sanibel Island area that we just have to see it for ourselves. I will also be celebrating my 50th Birthday a few days after we get back. It would really make a trip and birthday to remember if I would be the one chosen to receive this beautiful Light House photo. But wait there is more, I will also promise to pay if forward. My friend’s and I for the passed 11 year’s have been holding Chinese Auction Fundraiser’s to raise funds for the American cancer Society. In the pass 11 year’s we have raised over $110,000 for cancer research. I would enjoy this photo until the spring of 2011, at which time it will be donated to the auction. This will be a magic photo, and know matter where it is it will bring a lot of good and happiness. We are so looking forward to our trip to Sanibel Island which is only about 34 days away, but who is counting? (I am) We can not wait until we can walk and feel the soft beautiful sand through our toes. Please remember to also do your part to protect yourself from skin cancer, and remember to put on the sun screen.
LOVE shelling on Sanibel, can’t wait to go again.
Please enter me in your contest for the beautiful picture. It would look great in my “beach” room. LOVE your website!!

I spent 5 wonderful days on Sanibel Island in April of 2009 and again in April 2010 and can’t wait to come back again. I discovered your website in Jan. of this year when researching info for my trip and now check it every single day. I really enjoy all the pictures and they make me wish I was back on the beach again picking up SHELLS. I would love to win the picture of the Sanibel lighthouse to hang in my home. Keep the website going. I love it.
Hi! My first comment here – just found your page. I’ve always loved looking for shells whenever I can get to any beach (mostly gulf coast beaches like the western end of Panama City Beach). In the last 10 years or so i have really become addicted to shelling though! I;ve read about Sanibel for years now-and am planning a trip for this fall (in October i hope!). Please enter me in the contest also. I am sure once I visit I will have a hard time deciding where my “dream home ” will be. Upper gulf beaches or in Sanibel… .Anyway lovely photo – I hope I win. Thanks for offering a give-away.
Happy shelling to all .
My husband and I recently purchased a home in Fort Myers because we intend to relocate there when he retires. As American expats, we are currently living in Equatorial Guinea, West Africa, and I would love to win your picture to bring back to Africa and remind me of my most favorite place in the world…….Sanibel Island. A good friend of mine suggested your site to me and I absolutely love it!!!!! It is a wealth of information. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and pictures with those of us who whose biggest dream is to someday be retired and live the high life…..shelling, relaxing and enjoying the beach!!!!!
I’ve waded out in the water every year for the last five years to get a great shot of the lighthouse. This photo is breathtaking.
‘love lighthouse beach at low tide, lots of treasures to be found at that time :)
I love this as well as all your facebook. Thanks for keeping us updated with all the great shelling
Your website keeps me in Sanibel daily. Thanks, for mini vacations. Please enter me in the contest it is another wonderful moment of Sanibel.
I would love to win this beautiful photo for my wentletrap-crazy sister. We’ve been coming to Sanibel off and on since we were little, and we’re now closer to the five decade mark. She spends almost all of her waking hours at Sanibel at the lighthouse area searching, searching, searching for wentletraps and could probably pick them out in the dark. Of course, the lighthouse area is the best for wentletrapping…so this photo would be perfect for her!
Thanks for my daily dose of Sanibel.
Love your website! I love Sanibel. While the guys do the surffishing, I look for the other seatreasures. The pictures of your wormshell crafts gave me inspiration. I look forward to more blogging….
I fell in love with Sanibel several years ago. It is so beautiful. I cannot wait to be back there next year.
Reading this blog takes me back to Sanibel Island, and the calm just washes over me. Thanks for sharing so the rest of can have just a bliss. Please enter me into the giveaway.
I read faithfully, just waiting for the daily shelling report. Why, when I’m there only twice a year? Because I’m addicted!!! We’re bringing our granddaughters for their second trip July 24th. Maybe we’ll see you at Blind Pass. The picture is gorgeous, and thanks for offering it.
Just found this website, and I love it! Be still my heart… I plan to get VERY lost in here! Thank you!! <3
Overheard you discussing your web site at The Mucky Duck in May of this year.
I visit it daily to get my Sanibel fix. Thank you for the wonderful posts and pictures. Your efforts are truly appreciated. Please enter me in the drawing so I can be in Sanibel without even turning my computer on. Next trip scheduled for September but thats way to long to wait.
Oh boy, at near the time of the dedication to the City.
What a great photo – and how nice of you to give it away. I’ve just discovered your blog today and am having a drooling good time reading it. It’s been many years since I was in Sanibel and Captiva, and sure do wish I could go again!!
I will be visiting Sanibel Island in September. Very excited and I am trying to learn all about the area before I go. Because of my facination with shells and shelling I have been going to differrent websites. Today I felt lucky as to have found yours and read everything I could and shared it with co-workers. I am having a hard time waiting for my vacation, first time in Sanibel. I am interested in the give away as I am redecorating one of my extra rooms with all the colors of the ocean and all that comes along with it. I am hoping to bring back some treasures from Sanibel to also add to my decor. Keep up the great blogs. I will be watching and reading. Thank you!
Gorgeous picture. Sanibel’s lighthouse is my children’s favorite destination…..still. We have been coming to the island whenever we could afford it since they were babies. I am happy to say we will start our next visit in two days; my children are 18 and 14 and my daughter is starting college in a month. She wanted to visit one more time before things changed…. Thanks for sharing and the chance to win!
Just discovered this site and it’s a fabulous resource. Beautiful photo! Hoping to see the lighthouse when we are there in September.
Wow what a great photo- makes me feel like I’m at the beach right now!!! Thanks for the great web site. Can’t wait to visit Sanibel in the near future.
Hi Pam, thanks so much for “paying it forward” and offering this treasure!! I love love love Sanibel and Captiva!! And I have really become addicted to shelling over the past three years!! I’ve learned a lot from your comments, and I find myself wanting to empty out my vases of shells & looking through the shells again since I am becoming more familiar with them! Coming in November and hope our paths cross while shelling!! I look sooo forward to seeing your updates come through my e-mail. I’m constantly checking it!!! :) Thanks again!
I would love to win the beautiful picture. It would be a touch of the south sent to Wisconsin!
That’s very kind of you to make this prize available. I accept your invitation to enter. Like your web site, too. We’ve been collecting shells for years from further up the coast from you, and from around the world favorites from New Zealand), but never thought to go online with them like this. Keep up the good work!
I love your website. Thank you for sharing your excursions with us. We’ve been following your blog for about 5 months now.
Our first trip to Sanibel/Captive was in March of 1993. We were there for what was being called at the time, the “Storm of the Century”. On the very first day of shelling we found two of the foot long whelks like you found as well as a huge horse conch. All of the locals were telling us that they had never seen shelling like that in all of the years they had been there. We were hooked immediately. We’ve been back many times but have never experienced anything like that again (yet).
Over the years, we have learned to love the miniature shells. So small and perfect just waiting there when you think there are no shells to be found that day.
Thanks for posting the daily pictures for those of us who can’t be there in person, we can be there in our hearts.
Hi Pam,
I’m doing some late night surfing here and found your fabulous website about one of my all time favorite places to vacation. My Mother, my sisters and II love to beachcomb and especially love shelling on Sanibel. My sisters and I have brought our 93 year old Mother to Sanibel for these past 7 years where we spend 2 weeks shelling and using our treasures for shell crafting as well as to bring home to enjoy. So sorry I missed your giveaway. I’ve bookmarked you to keep up on Sanibel in anticipation our our next visit.
Happy Shelling…what a life!!
Val in Deming, New Mexico without a beach in sight!.
love it – hope to win – love Sanibel – hope I get to come back
I love it!!!! Please enter include me in the drawing. Thanks
