You won’t believe this dolphin as it rushes to the shore in such shallow water with people near by shelling at low tide on Sanibel.
I feel very fortunate to have been at the beach at sunrise this morning to witness this incredible event. Wait until you see this dolphin race to the shoreline….. right beside me!
Stay tuned for more beach finds and photos of the “Super Moon” tomorrow.
That’s so cool. We had the same experience when we were there in Feb. We’ll never forget it!
THAT is EXACTLY why I love Sanibel. Precious, precious moments like these make this island our little slice of heaven on earth. Thanks Pam for sharing with us.
That was amazing – you are so lucky to have gotten to see that. I can’t believe how closely he came to shore. Thank you so much for sharing that!
Aren’t you glad you are an early bird now! What a gift. Which beach were you on ?
God has blessed Sanibel with incredible sunsets. Even in the Caribbean, I never saw sunsets like this.
The dolphins are wonderful and so playful! What a treasure to see!
That was incredible! The dolphin acts like it knows summer is nearly here. Beautiful shots with that gorgeous sunset in the background!
I saw the dolphins shore fishing like that a couple years ago and have always wanted to see it again. It is thrilling to watch!
We had a similar experience on the beach off Algiers Road about 2 weeks ago, around 2pm – 2 dolphins kept doing that and it was amazing, they entertained a crowd of almost 50 people for about 15 minutes, better than going to the aquarium.
The sunset and Moon rise this past Saturday at blind pass was amazing.
Wow that’s a cool video. That’s great you caught it on video. Shell and I experienced a similar experience in Dec when we were at the Lighthouse Beach but only caught a photo. A little startling when they come right at you…how awesome!
That’s amazing they came that close to the shore and the people! May can’t come soon enough!
I have watched twice now and I found myself laughing and crying at the same time! Amazing! What a gift! Thank you for starting my week in such a magnificent manner!
Thanks for the video…beautiful!
How amazing! What a beautiful thing to see and get to experience so close!
Amazing! I got chill bumps watching him. Let’s get this to go viral. I’m going to start sharing it with everyone I know. Maybe CL will finally take notice!
Weehoo! Thank you Marcia!!!! I’d love for you to share it! Anybody else? Just copy and paste this into emails and facebook or anybody you’d like to share it with…….-

We saw a similar sight recently in February, they were playing at sunset.. AWESOME!
That is just amazing!! Your video and photos are stunning! What a perfect way to end a day! They looked just as curious about everyone as you were them. :) They are just incredible creatures!
Amazing…i have seen dolphins when visiting Sanibel, but nothing like that!!!
Absolutely LOVE the video, Thanks for sharing.
Wow! What a great video! Can’t wait until my husband I make it back down there. Last August we saw a mother and her calf up close at Blind Pass. We were pretty sure the mother was teaching her calf how to fish!
Amazing, thanks for sharing.

WOW…you were practically swimming with the dolphins….way cool!!!!
I think that dolphin was showing off for everyone! He just wanted his picture taken, LOL! Wonderful video, Pam, thanks for sharing such a wonderful moment. What a treat!
That’s amazing. There must have been some great food there. I’ve never seen them do that before. When I see them they’re doing this: http://flotsamfriends.blogspot.com/2010/07/photobucket.html
Your dolphins are so relaxed and content. Like all you Sanibel types!! Pruxxx
Ah-I love Dolphins. Beautiful shots. We saw some dolphins in St. Augustine this past summer, but that was after I gave my camera a bath in salt water.
I grew up in Florida and miss it so much!!!!!!! I live in Illinois now but come down twice a year…shelling is my passion and I can’t believe I found this website. May God and the Angels find a way for me to come home (with pay, I can’t retire for 10-12 more years) and have two in College. I dream about dolphins all the time….once one came in that close and kissed me in a dream.
Loved your video! My sister and I saw dolphins tail dance and leap out of the water when we were on Sanibel Middle Gulf this January. I got a still of the dolphin completly clearing the water but missed the tail dance photo. Mother Earth Marilyn
We saw a similar show 2 weeks ago at the lighthouse at sunset. Thought they were chasing the rays that were plentiful just offshore. Better than Seaworld!
I always walk the beach at sunrise.
Thanks for the Sanibel fix! Great video.
Wow! If only you could train a dolphin to find a Junonia! They are amazing animals….my daughter’s favorite.
