Introducing…. Shelly Temple!
I was so honored to be asked to be a celebrity waitress for the Shell Museum fundraiser, I figured if I was going to get folks to shell out lots of clams for the museum, I’m not a “celebrity”, but I can be a Shellebrity! So I pulled out boxes of shells and a hot glue gun then embellished a “little girl” dress (from the costume store) and curly top wig with STARFISH, SCALLOPS and ARK shells.
I was so tickle that the event was hosted at a local restaurant, so we showed up early to hang out with the other waiters to get some advice of how the night should go. It was fun to see Krista Fogelsong and Clay Miller from NBC-2 there too. I’ve run into Krista shelling Sanibel and Captiva (with her shell bag filled to the top!) a few times so it was fun to catch up and grab a yummy bite to eat together. Here’s Shelly with Krista and Alison Dry of Cips …
Then we got to “work” waiting tables and asking for donation tips. Thank you Ron for starting off the night with my first tip! For big tips, I gave out Shellollipops…hahaha
Okay, I really don’t believe I did this… but I sang and tap danced for tips. Ack! I still cant believe I did that- but it sure was fun! LOL (Dont worry, I had on a pair of shorts with that dress- yikes! it was sooo short)
For “Shelly’s” singing and dancing, Melissa and Scot Congress of Sealife By Congress, were very generous and donated big. Thank you so much!
Betsy and Marcel Ventura shelled out big donations. Wow! Thank you so much!
It was a spectacsheller night so we shellebrated more donations from big tippers Susan and Daron (thats Soul Sister Susan) and shell craft queen Jane. Thank you!!!!
Of course Super Sheller Clark (he came up with the idea of Shelly Temple!) helped every step of the way to make it such a fun and successful night… plus he gave a nice tip too. Yahoo!
Omigosh, are you really ready to see me (ahem… “Shelly”) sing and tap dance? But first I have to admit…. I DONT KNOW HOW TO TAP DANCE! But what would Shelly Temple be without tap dancing??? I had to learn a few steps so my friend Susan Scott was kind enough to give me a lesson and made it very easy for me. Thank you Susan- you are a life saver!
This is my dress rehearsal (LOL) in my Shellaboratory (as my friend Tiia named it). Get ready for some silliness, folks. I’m sure you can guess the song I sang, right?
Here’s Shelly Temple singing and dancing to… Â “On The Good Beach Sanibel”…
It was a shelltastic night that raised lots of money for children’s seashell education.
OMG…….that was just too fun!
Very sweet. Looks like a great time was had by all. ;-)
That was great! You were awesome! See you next week!!
Sending you a hearty “Bravo” and “Encore.” Any more stanzas to that catchy tune by any chance?
H.L.
Great job! And I am jealous of your Shellaboratory…..you are SO organized (my shells are in shoe boxes and buckets). Looks like a great place to spend the afternoon creating shelltacular crafts!
Dear “Shelly”,
Wow, I know DANCING WITH THE STARS will be requesting you soon!!
My fave line in your blog was “…. to get folks to shell out clams…”
In a “nut”shell, you are an adorable bundle of talent !!
Sincerely,
Shellotte
Lol…TOO CUTE!! love the video! How wonderful of you to do such a great event!! And I know you had a blast…right up your alley!!
Was having a stressful day at work and then I saw Shelly Temple sing and dance… laughed so hard I had tears running down my face. Thank you Pam for making my day and working so hard for a great organization. I told them Shelly Temple sent me.
Pam, I am also watching your video with laughter tears. Your talents never cease to amaze me… You do so much for the community. . Aplause from all clam ..clam ..clam. L-O-R-E-E
Bravo! Good job! Thanks for sharing!
You are just the cutest, Pam! What a wonderful thing to do for the Shell Museum. I’ll bet you got the most tips. Looks like a good time was had by all.
By the way, I noticed the blue pails…are those I Love Shelling sand buckets? And if so, are they available for purchase? Also, love the Shellaboratory you have. What an awesome place to keep your treasures! Thanks for sharing your adventures!
THANK YOU ALL for your sweet comments! It really was so much fun to be a part of this event… and as you can see i can get VERY silly! hahaha
*Hot Lips (heehee)- It was all I could do to tap dance and sing to one stanza! LOL
*Shellotte! I love your new name!!!!
*Sheri- C CU soon!
*Christine- I just bought sand buckets and put my stickers on them. If I see you on the beach, ask me for a sticker. That goes for anybody!
*Sue, Ken and L-o-r-e-e- that made my day too making you laugh that hard! And thanks Sue for making a donation and telling them Shelly sent you! :)
*Brenda- I try to be organized but it gets out of control QUICKLY so its normally organized chaos. I have buckets and buckets still not cleaned and sorted but all in time. I’m just happy I have a garage!
Pam, I have to admit, you have surprised even me. I appreciate all you have done and continue to do for shelling and the shell museum on Sanibel Island. Before I would “attempt” a public song and dance like that, I would require enough alcohol intake that I probably would be unable to stand up, let alone dance. Good for you. Looks like you had a lot of fun.
hahaha Good to hear from you MK!
Hi Shelly,
Awesome dance and song. You are amazing!
We are coming Thanksgiving week. Any ideas on where we should stay? We have always stayed at South Seas Plantation, but all I can find is South Seas Resort. Is that the same. It’s a little pricier than the last time we were there in the 90’s. There are just 2 of us, my husband and me. Can’t wait to hit the beach and add to our collection. I really need to find a Junonia. Any ideas on other places to stay will be greatly appreciated. I am so excited!!
Dancing With the Stars material for sure! Loved this …
That was fantastic Pam! Don’t know where you get your braveness but I would love to have some! Spectacular! The lyrics were wonderful!!! Thanks for the entertainment! Good laughter for a tough day at work!!!!
Pam-
You have such a grand, big…HEART! Hats off to you for your enthusiasm!
I thought that was you in the picture I saw.
;-)
Great song and dance! Clever words. Looks like you had fun. Hope you made a lot of money
Pat
Ha ha! I can’t believe you went to the trouble of getting a tap dancing lesson! Well done! You are too much Pam!
Hi Pam,
You were so cute at the dinner. Rita and I were glad to have seen you again and tickled that you remembered meeting us at the Holiday Inn. We are always talking up your website and can’t wait to see the next post. Thanks for all you do!
OMG Pam – you are so adorable. Good for you and that looked like a lot of fun!!
Pam, that was fabulous! I love the costume and the lyrics were perfect! Did you think those up yourself? You clever girl! If I’d been there I would have joined right in with you ‘cuase I love the museum too!

Oh my goodness Pam, how cute are you??!!!! What a great job you did for the museum. You never cease to amaze me. Never!!
I’m landing on Saturday for a week. Will see you on the cruise!!! Oh yeah!
Love love love it!!!!!!
This is great. With all you do, picking a Halloween costume must be easy.
Wonder Woman with a belt of shells.
Great job. Pam. Love your tap dance & song. :))
Oh, what fun! I’d never have the guts to do it myself, but I’m not surprised that you did – and for such a great cause. Like the others have said, it sure brightened a tough morning at work. When I see you on Dancing with the Stars, all my votes will go to you. :)
Shelly,
You were charming and such a good sport to tap and sing. You have a great singing voice! There is no end to your talents and generosity. Your video made my morning so enjoyable. I bet the clams of Sanibel are applauding you, too.
You are so cute!!!!! and so crafty too!
Love your garage, you are so organized.
Oh Pam………………………good for you and the Shell Museum.
That video made me laugh! You are such a great sport!
You will do whatever needs to be done!
That was Shellabulous!!
Lookin’ good, missy! You need to save that costume for the 4th of July and Christmas parades!
About that shellab, oh, my! Another side business for you. We’re looking into moving there, and I’d love to hire you to set something up for me. Sanibel closets… Er, Sanibel Shellabs by Shelly. Or, She Sells Searooms by the Seashore!
Pam…that was AWESOME! As Carly Simon says…”Nobody does it better”
Love ya
Oh my! You are just TOO cute for words! I watched you sing and dance…if this shell thing doesn’t work out….I think you have a future! SO FUN! Sweet hugs from just North of you!
