After cold, gray skies covered our island earlier this week, colorful sea shells rolled up onto our beaches. Blind Pass Captiva’s new sand bar collected a long wrack line of sea treasures to comb through and warm the heart. Wanna go CYBERSHELLING with me on this sand bar? Click on the video!
Among all the usual suspects (the Sanibel Six) I found CARRIER SHELLS, BITTERSWEETS, orange CHESTNUT TURBANS, WORM SHELLS, TUBE CORAL, fragments of LIONS PAWS and shells with that cool CORALLINE ALGAE. This is the first cold snap of the season…. and I’m lovin’ it!
Dont forget… Join me next week Wednesday Nov 26, 2014 for an iLoveShelling Shelling Adventure! CLICK HERE for more info…
Pam,
You have so many shells to look through! Wish I could be there right now!! I am dreaming of Sanibel shells in Denver!!
Mmmmm, niiiiiiice! :)
Wonderful to see shells showing up at Blind Pass after a very long dry spell. They are all beautiful!
Pam –
I am so envious! I feel like I know you from your wonderful website/blog. I’m in Newport News, VA and have lived in Hampton Roads since 1979. I’ll be down visiting my brother in Naples over the Christmas holiday. We hope to come up to Sanibel for at least a day. Can’t wait to do the “stoop” again!
Hope to see you on the beach!
What beautiful shells! Love the video-I’ll have to watch it several times. I liked that orange striped scallop in the upper left corner of the picture. Love the orange chestnut turban and the bittersweets too. I hope to find a carrier shell one of these days. Looks like the lions paw had a rough time. Hope everyone have a great time shelling this weekend. Pat
I was there yesterday afternoon with a friend from out of town. Found my first Cabrits Murex (and most of a great big Scotch Bonnet, and pieces of the Lion;s Paw that still eludes me), she found an Imperial Venus, we both got some cool Carrier shells. All in all a very successful day!
Ooh……so happy…..leaving snowy michigan today, sanibel tomorrow! Looking forward to the cruise next week too!
Was born and raised in MI. Still consider it “home”even tho I live in NJ.Hope you have a very fun experience shelling in paradise!
Thanks for the video!!!
Loved the video. Went to Blind Pass this morning and the sand bar was pretty bare. Of course, we’re always a day late. Richard said there were a million kitten paws. Gulfside had a few nice shells, we each found a colorful moon snail and Tampa top shell.
I LOVE the video. Wish I was there with you!!
So love to cyber shell! It makes my day. I have a request: I got a crucifix shell on your cayo costa cruise on Nov 10. How do I “bleach ” it to be lighter in color. Don’t want to ruin it.
Loved your help on the cruise and look forward to another one next year,
Happy Thanksgiving!
60 days to go and I’ll be there!!! Cannot wait!!!!!
Love the cyber shelling! Thanks for sharing your fun with us. Can’t wait to be there. 25 days to go, but who’s counting? Me!!!
Love the orange shells! There haven’t been alot of orange on the beaches lately.
Thanks again for the great vid! Like the name of it implies, I love pausing it and looking for shells that I’d pick up. In this one I saw lots of kitten’s paws, spiny jewels, slippers and colorful scallops & cockles… Just so much fun. Thank you, Pam!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! So exciting to see all the wonders of the shelling kingdom that is Sanibel starting to arrive at Blind Pass. Our first year on the island was in December and the shelling was fantastic. Looks like it’s going to be a great holiday shelling season! Happy Thanksgiving, Pam and all our fellow shelling buddies out there!
