Blind Pass has it all now since they dredged the cut between Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Boaters are happy now that they can go under the bridge as a short cut to Pine Island Sound. Fishermen are happy since lots of fish are running through the pass. Sunbathers are happy now that there is even a beach on the Wulfert Channel side of the bridge. And of course, we still love Blind Pass for shelling.
The big news is that the shell pile is there on the Captiva side with nobody shelling it. Usually people plop right down and sift for hours. Maybe it’s because it got pretty hot this afternoon and everybody was taking a break. Or maybe nobody realizes that the parking lot is now open on the Captiva side since it has been roped off because of the construction.
Anyway, there are all the shells you would expect. Olives, whelks, scallops, conchs, murexes, tulips, and the rest.
