Flats or Zigzag Scallops
FLATS are normally very difficult to find on Sanibel or Captiva but just about every one I’ve found was at Blind Pass on the Captiva side. Some times they have barnicles on them or need to be cleaned up so I use dental tools I found at a shell shop to pick any growths off of them. A FLAT is part of a ZIG ZAG SCALLOP that only has one flat side.
