As the sun was setting over the gulf tonight, the full moon was rising over the island. It was a beautiful evening to walk the beach and to chat with Barb and Phil about their good shelling they had over the last few days. They were taking advantage of the really low tide in the mornings this week to find lots of OLIVES, TULIPS and FIGHTING CONCHS. They said they didn’t know the names of all of the shells yet. This was their first trip to Sanibel and didn’t have any idea about the shelling when they booked the trip. Well, they do now and I think they could already be addicted.
PS- That’s not a spot on the photo, that’s the full moon….it looked much larger in person.
Ok, it’s 12:08 am and we just finished packing for our return to Chicago. The alarm is set for 6 am so that we can get out for low tide and some awesome shelling and our last Sanibel sunrise of this trip. We fell in love with the island and have decided to make it a yearly (maybe twice a year) trip. When we got here we had no idea how much fun we would have shelling; we’re now addicts and are leaving with a beautiful box of shells to prove it! Every wave has the potential to bring in a new work of art from Mother Nature. Will send a pic of our “haul” when I get back home.
Happy shelling!
