Finally! There are nice new shells washing up all around the jetty at Blind Pass in Captiva. I really haven’t seen good shelling in the last week or so but now I have something to get excited about. There are WHELKS, MUREXES, CONCHS, OLIVES and TULIPS on both sides of the jetty on the beach and up in the rocks.
I stopped at Algier’s Beach and it was packed with people. There were lots of Calico Scallops and Pen Shells but I think since it was so busy with lots of people, it had been picked over by the time I got there. It was a little better shelling off Middle Gulf Drive. I snapped this photo of a FLIGHTING CONCH that had just washed up and saw a few more larger shells starting to come in too. Tomorrow I think Blind Pass and any where on the east end of Sanibel will be the best places to find the best shells. AAANND only 3 days until the Shell Fair!!
Those Florida Fighting Conchs are my favorites!!
