Shells! Shells! Shells! The shelling at Blind Pass is fantastic. The shelling at the lighthouse is great. I couldn’t even make it to any of the other beaches because the Sanibel Shell Fair is soooo incredible!!! I’m so sorry some of the pictures are blurry or the detail isn’t showing. The refection of the glass on most of these pieces was very difficult to angle around so forget about a flash or good lighting….but you still get the point, right?? So let’s get on with it! It’s too exciting!
The Judge’s Merit Ribbon is a non-blue ribbon exhibit that a judge felt was noteworthy of recognition. I felt that this was an exceptional piece to receive my Merit Ribbon.
The Judge’s Special Award is one award by each of the 2 artistic judges given to any Artistic Division exhibit. In short- my fave of the show. For this exhibit, she also won a Blue Ribbon in the class “Miscellaneous” for hobbyists and Best in Show- Hobbyist trophy. Hobbyists are non-professionals who haven’t sold their work.
I’ve got to get back to take more pictures and I’ll answer more of your questions tonight. I will be at the fair tomorrow and Saturday as well so I’ll have lots of good stuff to blog about……and more of the winners!
The valentine is gorgeous!! I cannot imagine how many hours go into those and into a project like the shell museum. It is just amazing. I’d love to be there to see them in detail. Thank you so much for the pictures and reports!
I LOVE that mini-shell-museum!! How clever, no wonder you chose it for your Judge’s Award! Pam, I am thoroughly enjoying all these pics of the Shell Fair. Thanks so much for giving us all ~so far away~ a glimpse of what you’re seeing.
You are so welcome! I just wish I could show more detail in the “shell museum”. There are so many clever little displays in there….even little Sailor’s Valentines. The same artist did the “box of cowrie chocolates”. She tickles me!
I so get what you mean about tickles. Some people are creative with what’s already there, and others have a spark in their heads that give ’em that extra new dimension. They see a new angle and that’s what tickles us.
Pam, I’d so love to meet you on the beach next week and hug you for all the joy you’ve given me.
I won’t have a computer 3/7-3/14 when I’m there, but if you can think of a place & time you’ll be somewhere, let me know & that hug will happen! p.s. i’m not a stalker :) I’m coming with my mom! ya can’t be a stalker & bring yer mom to sanibel!
Wow so many neat things and I missed them! I was at the shell show walking around but did not make it inside the building. I just wanted to stop bye and say I love your site and I love Sanibel!

Glad you found some good stuff, R and E! I’ve put in my order for prettier weather but I can’t seem to get any cooperation.
