This is the close-up of the MUREX we discussed on last night’s post….and it’s getting exciting! Ellen won’t be able to take it by the shell museum today like MurexKen suggested… but soon. I’m very far from  scientist but it’s looking pretty good to me to be the CABRIT’S MUREX……but then again…..hmmmmm. We’ll have to wait and see…. tick tock. While we wait, here are some more photos of it.
It has the spines on the body whorl and on the siphonal canal. That is Cabrit’s Murex. No question. Great find. MK
Love all the wonderful info!
Today I am appropriately GREEN!! I have never seen to many horse conchs found so quickly! I’m still green with envy!! Wishing I could transport myself through time and space and have but just an hour or two on the beach!!
I have a Cabrit’s Murex (it still has the spines) and they are identical – how fun to find it!
wow, what a wonderful find!
Definitely a Cabrit’s Murex! Congratulations!! :-D
Yep! She found a good one! Maybe we’ll hear from her tomorrow if she takes it to the shell museum.
I have 2 of those with the spines still in tact that I found on the beach in Pensacola, Florida. They are so unique!
