Happy Summer! I love shelling on the islands in the summer time. We are starting to get those tropical afternoon quick storms that bring a little rain to cool things off …….but the best thing? The wind kicks up and gets that wave action to bring lots of those lovely shells and beach treasure to our shores.
Beyond the sand bar, you can see the white caps on the water then that deep dark sky. I think that’s a good sign for good shelling in the next few days. Yes! I love shelling in the summer on Sanibel!
Awesome sky!!! Wow, that’s a passing storm? The contrast is stunning. I wanna be there sooooooooo bad. Sigh. Only 6 more months! But who’s counting? Save some for me, Pam! Can’t wait to see what the ocean brings forth to Sanibel Island. Will be anxiously awaiting your posts. Have fun.
The photos again are very beautiful, the colors are amazing :) when we visit in the summer the afternoon storms are what we wait for. We’ve find many shells that way.
breathtaking!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We will be there in a week! Bring on the shells!
Yes, every afternoon I have to shut down the computer when our storms come through. They sound so ominous and they come through with such furry…then they’re quickly gone and the sun is shining again. Makes sitting on the porch in the evening so pleasant. Ours are not tropical and they don’t bring me any shells, but the tropical plants I brought from Florida are very happy.
I’m hoping to make it out that way, I miss shelling!
Guess what…. we only got a few tiny little drops from that deep, dark dramatic sky yesterday. Those clouds passed right by us and continued to the north. Rats! I wanted the rain.
I’m not sure which I enjoy more, watching the evening storm clouds or finding shells. :)
Only a few more weeks before I get to come back and shell some more! I too love shelling in the summer at Sanibel!!
very cool…what time of the day and what part of the beach did you go to?
It was around 4 or 5 pm on the east end near the Sanibel Inn. The wind kicked up too but unfortunately, not much rain.
