Clark found 2 fantastic ALPHABET CONES and a pretty FLORIDA CONE to boot this afternoon at Gulf Side City Park (aka Algier’s Park) all within 20 yards of each other. “Nothing better than finding cones” Clark always says.
He also found the TULIPS, OLIVES and MUREXES and found them all by using the backhoe at the surf’s edge……unlike me. I was up on the beach searching the shell lines but came up with a big goose egg, nada, zilch, zippo for shells but I did get a few nice shots of the the surf and sky.
I stopped by Blind Pass this morning and saw shells in the surf, a brilliant blue sky with puffy white clouds and absolutely gorgeous water. Ahhhh.

What beautiful pictures ! They make me even more “home sick ” ! Needless to say I have a love /hate relationship with your web site Pam . I’m drawn to it like a moth to the flame because it takes this Missouri girl to her beloved ” Sani-shell ” when she is stuck here in Missouri . Hate it because it makes me even more homesick to be there !!! It has been barely a month since we left the Island and my need for the beauty , tranquility , feel of sand under my feet , calming ocean breeze on my face , and shells to over take my thoughts . I keep asking myself , ” Carla , can you wait till next July to go to Sani-shell again ?” It doesn’t take very long to know the answer – NO !
But thanks Pam for sharing with all of us Sani-shell fan & lovers , who can not be there your pictures , stories & videos ! Keep up the great work !
Carla,
I know exactly how you feel! The moment I step on the plane to go home to Michigan I am already dreaming about coming back to Sanibel! And no matter what is going on in my life, I make sure I get to the Island in the spring and the fall. I know what homesick for Sanibel feels like, too. I couldn’t have described it better! Thanks for taking me there today, and, thank you ,Pam, for keeping our dreams alive all year long! :)
The shell shovel rules baby!
Seven weeks and counting……….
Eight weeks and counting :)!
Five months and counting!!!
That’s only 20 weeks, Cindy- hang in there!:)
I too cannot wait to visit on September 11. I would love to know where to get the Sand Backhoe that clark has! Did he make it or buy?
I have a few things i am bringing>>> a small folding stool, a childs metal hoe, a clawed digger….etclol..
also, would you mind telling me the type of camera you are using?
I appreciate so much your photos and website. I cannot wait to be on the beach.
We usually go to Gulf shores or Destin for a month in nov or dec. Ihad very good luck one year shelling for two days in Gulf Shores. I am tired of going there and they are still getting tarballs! We are not looking forward to driving 750 MILES, BUT i KNOW IT WILL BE WORTH EVERY MILE TO SPEND TIME IN SANIBEL.
THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR WESITE

I think they have those at Jerry’s, on the hardware side. Have fun!
I love the info on each card; that makes them very unique. I can’t pick a favorite – I love them all!
Oh my….your photos are amazing!
Oh how I wish I lived by the ocean…..I guess, I am at least lucky enough to live near Lake Michigan:):)
Nice work Clark! :)
Wow those are some pretty Alphabet Cones :) I can’t get over how clear the water is, it’s amazing. We are finally going down soon,we miss Sanibel so much. The people are so kind and very helpful. Thank you again for sharing these photos.
12 more days and I get back to Sanibel! can’t wait! can’t wait! can’t wait!
Gulfside was my favorite beach last Nov., I found 3 cones in that same area. Tide was just coming in and I was walking in the water and they were just rolling in. At the same time I was talking to a British gentleman, and he found one. I found walking in the water was great therapy for my foot, I was going to have foot surgery in Dec. when I got home and this Nov. I’m sure walking in the water will be great therapy for the little swelling I’m still having. But isn’t being in Sanibel therapy for everything?
those are nice looking cones!!!!
Pam,
You are one fabulous photographer. Keep posting the great pics. It’s so appreciated for folks like me stuck in the midwest who can’t get to Sanibel as often as we’d like.
sigh . . . not sure when I’ll be back.
