I’ve learned to look for this BABY’S EAR trail at low tide. They look like little dough patties since the mollusk surrounds the shell instead of hiding in it. It is very slimey! Check out this video.

Wow… just… wow. I learn something new every time I visit your beautiful blog. You are so sweet, just to say hello, then return it to it’s peaceful place.
cool! Thanks – I’ve never seen one of those while down there!
The video was very cool, although it kept starting and stopping. Our first full day here in Sanibel and already have seen some cool things. The pelicans were diving like crazy for a couple hours and for an hour or so we watched the manarays or sting rays, not sure which one they are up near the shore. Thet were so beautiful, so graceful. I have found 4 olives, acouple white hoofstails, a white nassas and of course a bunch of scallops. I like them because they are so colorful.I am also intrigued by the kittens paws. So cute. I have a couple of spiny jewel boxes. Hopefully tomorrow we will venture out to other beaches. Your blog has inspired me so much. Thx
Welcome Jane! Those are cownose rays you saw n the surf. We saw them too- just beautiful and they come so close. Glad you first day brought good finds and I’m sure tomorrow will bring more! Thanks for the update.
This is a really funny little video and I thought ya’ll might enjoy. A little silly but is bound to make you happy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TL3oaHKCko
