We walked the beach near the lighthouse late this afternoon and boy, was it beautiful. It was cool, calm and clear with little humidity….. and the shelling wasn’t too bad either.
A baby teeny tiny candy corn!
Janet found a nice size SHARK’S EYE, LIGHTNING WHELKS and lots of CONCHS.
Their first time to Sanibel! I’m sure not their last.
If you don’t know yet…… we have a GIVE AWAY! UPDATE: sorry the giveaway is over
Love that nutmeg photo! Wish I was there…
The Lighthouse is my favorite place to look for the mini’s.
I love the Limpet on the 5th picture down! I’m wondering what the shell is in the top left corner next to the moon shell. It looks kinda like a jewel box but darker in color. Great finds!
Yes! it’s a spiny jewel box. It was a little different than most jewel boxes (like you said… it was a little darker than normal) and it still had spines on one side so I picked it up. I dont know, I just liked it. I’m sure you can relate, right? ;)
Love your website. Can’t wait to get back to Sanibel. Shelling is like winning the lottery.
LOVE that huge nutmeg! Such rich color! Also the spiny jewel box. A couple years ago we came home with several with both sides connect and they still had their spines. Very nice shells.
I just love the top two photos! You caught the wave perfect. My husband and I spent a week at the lighthouse end of the island last January and found many great shells. Love your blog….keep up the great work and thanks!
Absolutely gorgeous. I am having the most stressful day at work. Looking at the photos is so very calming. THANK YOU!!!
Three more days and I’ll be standing RIGHT THERE!!!! Oh, yeah :)
Just look at all those wentletraps, nice finds. Wish we were still there!
My new blue shell sifter arrived today…my husband couldn’t believe how excited I was. I may have to try it out here on Long Island just to get the hang of it before heading for SW Florida next month.
All the shells are so colorful and so pretty, love the small ones too. Thank you for sharing :)
I’m a novice “shell whore” as Janet & Linda would say. This is my first time on the island; loving my fabulous vacation!!
That tiny little horse conch… what a sweet find.
I would love to win this for my sister. She now uses a net but this would be great. I have been coming to Sanibel since the 50’s when my mother used to take me on the ferry. I have inherited her love of shells, and my condo on the east coast looks like Sanibel at low tide. Her wish was to have her ashes by the Lighthouse and so there she swims day after day in Paradise.
Thanks for considering me!!
