I think this live TRUE TULIP was too cold to move any faster to dig his way under the sand at low tide this morning. The temperatures were in the 30s and 40s so I felt bad for him and gave him a little snuggie sand blanket.
This one just wanted to stick his head in the sand.
This one nestled himself amongst his friends to keep warm.
The birds were happy feasting on COCKLE frozen food.
Take a virtual stroll with me to find an ANGEL WING, MUREXES and more……
is there any way that someone could send me some of the angel shells? I would pay shipping, etc.
I have followed and enjoyed your blog for some time, but never before posted. Thank you for the video, It was just what I needed. We are having some very cold and snowy weather and I would rather be in Sanibel.
My teenage granddaughter, Shelby, recently made a fun video for Ocean’s Reach – our favorite place to stay when we come to Sanibel. Wishing I was there now.. . . :-)
I can never figure out how to get to that part of the beach. I walked as far as Donax Rd from GSCP and I was pooped coming back. Great video. Perfect pictures of the sand bars. Nothing like a good low tide and having that sand bar full of goodies. Nice angel wing too.
Nice video! Wish we were there!
What a wonderful way to start the day! Thanks for providing a momentary escape for the snow and cold outside my window!
Looks like a really low tide…nice. The beach looks quite wide. I love it when there’s a tide pool like that. A nice selection of shells too. Thanks for posting the pics and video, Pam, it allows us wannabe Sanibellers to get our “fix” for the day! Ah, the memories.
Love this video. As soon as we get off from work, we’re headed to indulge in the wonderful shelling experience. Although, we have collected so many shells, I need to work on projects to tidy things up! Making mirrors, wreaths, jewelry, etc. GREAT fun :)
At work so can’t view the video (darn IT dept) but will look when I get home. I’m not sure that I’ve ever been on the beach during a really low tide. Pam, I’ve seen all your postings and it looks really cool. I like the shot above of the urchins and cockles and tulip and conch….darn it, it seems like it will be forever before I can return in the fall. Thanks for sharing your Island with us. I’d give almost anything to be able to live there.
Love your website, been following since mid summer before our trip to Captiva! Thanks for all your wonderful tips. My sister actually found a junionia while we were there on her bday in August. My sister, mom, and I are planning a trip in February just to come shell again and would like to plan around moon/tides. Could you tell me…is the shelling best on the day of a full moon or day after? Thanks!!
If you have to choose one day over the other (the best choice would be both days!), I would choose the day with the lowest tide.
I was so busy looking for different things in the video that it had run 4 times before I even realized it. OK, so I’m easily amused when it comes to sharing your shelling adventures. Please keep those pix coming and good luck.
Thanks for sharing. I’m exited-we are leaving Sunday for FL. I hope to see you on the beach! Have a great weekend.
Wonderful video, you must have been laying down on the sand towards the end. We’re expecting below zero temps next week, means more cold coming your way. Poor conchs and tulips.
Thank you so much Pam, I always have trouble with the tides. These charts are a huge blessing for our family upcoming trips to Sanibel. I can’t pull up the video but that’s due to my computer having a mind of it’s own right now. I love low tides with full moons, it’s like Xmas everytime :-)
Thanks for all your help info! Is there a place you would suggest to stay that’s central to all shelling sites. Last time we came for shelling only we stayed at Samibel Inn, when we come with our family we stay at South Seas. We don’t need anything luxurious since we won’t be in room very much…thanks again!!
Those are both good places and you might want to check out Sundial too. The shelling has been great by Sundial the last few days and is right in the middle of the island so that might be a good choice. They have a wide range of prices so they might have everything you want.
