Many of us retreat to the beach to refresh our minds and senses. Any stress seems to melt right away with the first sniff of salt air and the sound of the sea washing up on the shore. I love the beach. I needed the beach yesterday. I was fortunate enough to sink my toes into that wet sand last night before sunset and enjoy the peace. Then it happened. Happiness. I smiled at everything I saw. I tried to capture all this happiness and fold it up to ten things to share with you.
Top 10 Reasons Why I love The Beach….
#10. Sea Oats
#9. Sea Turtle Nests
#8. Shore Birds
#7. Signs Of New Life
#6. Vastness
#5. Soothing Colors
#4. Palm Trees
#3. Sunsets
#2. Shellers
#1 reason why I love the beach……
Shelling!!!
That’s exactly why I love the beach too!
Gorgeous photos.
Glad you got to smile…. and I cant wait to be thereso I can smile and soak it all in…com’on Oct.
ABSOLUTELY the reasons I love the beach.
(Well, if I could amend it to add the sounds and smells)
What a blessed thing to have your chance to get to the beach to help ease all your stresses. We are blessed that you share it with us :)
yes, yes, yes to all the above. Number one way to get your daily fix is of course to live at the beach. But when life won’t cooperate and you can’t manage that, then the number one next best way is — Pam! Thanks for my daily dose of what I need, need, need.
Pam – Great post and photos today!! (as usual!!!!!) We love the beach and are thankful that you live there, and share your photos and experiences from the beach. I sure helps those of us who can’t physically be on Sanibel Island every day. ox
Absolutely to them all! Pam, you take the most beautiful photos. I make cards out of photos and would love to make some from your beach scenes! Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.
I second ,third and Fourth that!!!
There is nothing like the Beach the sound of the Sea to erase stress!
As I tell my kids, one thing runs true the tide comes in and the tide goes out. A new day!
Pam, you need to enter your pics in the Florida Travel Life Photo contest!! they are beauties!!
Love it, love it, love it. All reasons to get to the beach whenever I can. Thank you so much for sharing.
Such beautiful images Pam.
I agree with everyone Pam.. you need to submit your fotos to Florida travel and Life!! thank you for bringing us close to the beach and sea through everything you share. I really needed this post today… a couple days ago I took a very bad fall in my home… after it taking 1/2 hr to crawl to my bed where my phone was I called ambulance… am now laid up with cast on my left leg to knee and excruciating pain. All my plans for coming over to your side of the Florida coast for shelling this summer are now vanished. I could cry as much about this as from the pain levels… I have been looking forward to doing a Captiva Sanibel trip for months now… As I have fallen twice now just from manuevering from crutches to wheelchair, I am sure these legs wouldn’t stand up to shelling… drs said 6-8 weeks average for healing… sometimes longer…. ahhhhh… to dream….
was just thinking… would like to put a request out there, if its ok Pam… if in anyones shelling they come across a few extra of my fave white wentletraps or mini whelks, save some for me! I’ll reciprocate when I ever get back on my feet! Thanks… enjoy every moment for us Pam… we are living by the sea through your eyes, videos, and posts!
Cathy B
Give me an address and I would love to send some to you to help you with your recovery.
Cathy – Yes, I too would like your address. I have a lot of mini welks that I have collected over the years and I would be happy to share them with you.
Pam – Just breathtaking!!!!
Let the shelling begin! Start looking through your mail, Cathy- You’ve got packages coming from all 3 of us!
I don’t know how you do it, Pam…but you continually bring us such breathtaking photos of our favorite island! Thank you…it makes the times between visits bearable. Yesterday’s suggestions of an I LOVE SHELLING calendar featuring a selection of your lovely phots is a great idea! Beach towels, too. Oh…too many photos? Maybe a coffee table book someday! You are living my dream. Rick and I hope to one day join you on Sanibel. Happy Shelling!
My dream too, Christine…,.(happy sigh)….:)
Hey Roxanne! You’re from Wisconsin, yes? Me too! Maybe we could pool our resources and buy a place on Sanibel! Wishful thinking, I know but it could happen! LOL
Amen to the Top 10! Another wonderful post, Pam! Thanks for sharing your beach with those of us that are land-locked. MN has lots of beautiful lakes, but there is something about the ocean that just doesn’t compare!!!
You really should publish these so the unfortunates who don’t know about this site can enjoy them too! You so capture the “feel’ of the place!
WOW, WOW, WOW! Life doesn’t get much better than that. What else is there to say. Lorrie
You captured, in picture form, exactly the same sentiments I feel each time I visit our beaches here on Long Island be it North Shore, South Shore, East End, etc. South Florida still calls to me any time of year….
One thing I love that you did’nt mention is the wonderful aroma of salty air.
Especially at low tide. I LOVE that smell. It means new seashells to find.
HIGH TIMES AT LOW TIDE! Kelly
It is the best way to have “Serenity Now!”
I can feel the Gulf breeze and taste the salt air!
And that’s mighty hard to come by in New Mexico!
Jody
Yes yes yes…times 10! I wish I was celebrating at the beach today! Beautiful photos! ♥
You are so talented and creative!! I love your postings and so look forward to them each day. Thanks so much!!
I really needed this today – thanks so much for the blessing
Ditto!!! Ditto!!! Ditto!!!
Hey Pam – When you post such beautiful pictures can you make them so when we click on them they go BIG? I mean almost full-screen big. I just love them so much I want to try and paint them!
Pam…I agree with Christine….just resize them to 1240 X 960 or so, and they will fill a computer screen! I used to use them as my background at home, but they are now too teenie!!
BTW….I agree completely with your top 10…that’s exactly why we are here again this week…needed some more of all of that!
Great pictures to come home to after a long day at the office. Only wish I was in paradise. Thank you for bringing a smile.
Pam , this time you left me speechless , it took my breath away !!! You captured every aspect ( in word & picture ) of the way I feel about Sanibel . Once again I could feel it’s magic creeping into my soul & heart …. YES I”M THERE AGAIN !!! Just sitting here trying to express how your post has touched me , I have to stop and dig deep within me to find just the right words to type …. and I can not !!! The words are not there , but the feelings of tranquility , peace , & magic fill me . My eyes fill with tears just knowing you & so many other share the same love for our magical Sanibel !! Thanks once again Pam for sharing some of that magic !
P.S. Please try to find a way to bottle that feeling … I’ll take a case or 2 when you do… LOL !!!
Yes to all those things. Counting the days till November when I will be able to spend a month on Sanibel. That’s 88 days.
Lee & Bill :-)
Beautiful photos, We’ve lived on the beach for 40 yrs. and everyday is different. If you’re on the 5th tee at a fabulous golf course, everyday you see the 5th tee. Boring. Love the beach. Do the egg casings come in this time of year? Someone told me they come in only in Feb and March. As always, Caryl
Ahh, that is so sweet. Miss you.
All of it!! Plus the sounds of birds, waves and wind and the scent of water and fresh air.
You take beautiful photos!! Such inspiration! I’m bookmarking you! :o)
Take care and STAY POSITIVE!
Bliss. Thank you for the photos.
#11: the sound of the shells jingling in the surf as the tide goes out. Thanks for sharing Pam, your blog helps get us excited for our next trip (which can never be soon enough)! I dream about this place in my sleep.
I saw the title “Ten Things…” and clicked on to pick the ones I liked also. And they are:
1. ALL OF THEM
Thank you once again, Pam, for keeping our shelling dreams alive every day :)
All my top 10.
Yes!!!
Hello Sweet Shellin’Sistah Pam,
I’ve been remiss in not leaving comments but I’ve been here! can’t resist checking in often to get my Sanibel fix and you never fail me! LOVE your top 10 pictures and words. I see how it makes all our sistahs feel so good and come up with other things they love…my Sani-Belle sisters and I had so much fun with our very sceptical sister-in-law on her first visit to Sanibel when we told her we would show her the “dance of the coquinas” …ahhh, sweet Sanibel memories…keep ’em comin’ dear Pam.
Hello from Canada (Coyne)…thank you so much for all the pictures…I miss the causeway…the beaches…but most of all my family (all my sistahs!!) and friends!! See ya soon…
bEAUTIFUL photos-happy weekend.ss
i couldnt have said it better myself! :) the beach is my soulmate!!
thank you for the congratulations.. i am so excited to bring a little sea baby to this world. xx
All of these, and probably 10 more reasons! I don’t think I will ever get my ‘fill’ of the beach! Thanks for the birthday wishes Pam!
This is my favorite post of all time. These are the reasons why I love the beach, and why I hope I can live on Sanibel Island one day.
