We haven’t seen a huge shell mound form at the jetty rocks on the Captiva side of Blind Pass in months and months. So to see folks like Sue from MA sittin’ and siftin’ through a shell mound almost 2 feet deep, made me want to jump for joy then lay down in that pile and make shell angels like we did as a kid in the snow. Sitting and sifting at one spot, Sue filled up her mesh shell bag with treasures like this FLORIDA CONE, FLAT SCALLOP  and lots of APPLE MUREXES…
Susan from Cape Coral found her own stash of goodies too…
These are just some of her besties … but notice the GAUDY NATICA (COLORFUL MOON) on the top of her right hand? Becky from Memphis (September 26 post) asked to see that shell when I was ooohing and ahhhing over it because she had never seen one before. Susan said “Well of course!” then showed Becky the GAUDY NATICA …. then told her to keep it because she had a few already. Every day I meet such amazing people on our beaches! That was so sweet Susan!
Linda (Safety Harbor, FL) had her own spot in shell heaven. We all were just having the best time hanging out on the big pile just digging away finding gem and gem. It was a shelling party!
Isn’t it incredible that she was sitting in this same spot too and uncovered so many shells to fill up her bag? These were a few of her besties …
Teresa from TN was no exception in finding great shells to fill up her bag AND joining in on the fun of looking at everybody’s favorite shells.
More LIGHTNING WHELKS, OLIVES, another GAUDY NATICA and she also found a CRUCIFIX SHELL…
Ginger from KY found the best SHARKS EYE Ive seen in months.
Gorgeous!
It was the perfect weekend to have a spectasheller shell party!
But what would the party be without you? Grab a seat and start siftin’ with a little CYBERSHELLING! (click to enlarge this next photo)
Fun, Fun, Fun!
I love sitting and digging through that pile! It’s a nice break from the Sanibel Stoop! Hope to be back before the end of the year.
The pile that keeps on giving…great way to spend the day on the beach :-)
That tulip in the next to last picture is gorgeous!!
5 more days!!!
Me too!!! I am definitely going to be able to make it this year. It was touch and go for the last 10 days.
Give me a call if Orlando doesn’t show. Or I will see you Tuesday on the iloveshelling cruise!
Cannot wait to leave my cares behind……………..
Oh! and PLEASE have a shell pile like that next week too. LOL
Pam – I can’t wait to see you again too!
I’m so glad it’s working out and you can come!! See you soon!
Wow… a lot of great stuff there!
I wanted to reach in my computer and turn over a shell to see if it was a bittersweet. Sigh….
Pat
Me too! There’s a shell that looks like it could be an albino bittersweet. It’s above the mango seed pod, at about 1 o’clock. Very similar in shape.
I clicked on the photo for a close-up view before I even glanced at it and the pale Olive, the Bubble Shell and Painted Egg Cockle were nice surprises. Very pretty Lady-in-waiting Venuses too.
Thanks for the cybershelling, Pam! This was a great picture with so many shells packed together.
The shell I saw was orange about 9 o’clock to the left of a seed pod. Maybe the shell you saw was a comb bittersweet which are mostly white. Wish I ‘d been there to look. I like the painted egg cockle too. Pat
Any Junonias? :))
Soo wishing I had been down there! Well, my husband just had a 3 1/2 day golfing weekend, so maybe I’ll have to figure something out for me and he can watch the kiddos…although my kids are REALLY good shellers!
It’s a free for all……. FUN!!!

Oh wow – it was swept clean a few days ago when I was there….but THIS MORNING we sign the closing papers on our TN home….so soon we’ll be Sanibel people all year long – SURELY I’ll get in on some of it then!!!! See you the last of November, Pam!
Oh my gosh….you are living my dream! Lucky, lucky, people.
Can’t wait will be there Sunday !!!
Love all your pictures :)
I have to say, Pam, that it’s so amazing to me that the ocean just launches all those shells onto the beaches, takes them away and then redeposits them again! Amazing! I mean, where do they all come from? There seems to be an endless supply. It just boggles my mind. I love it! It’s so much fun to just dig and sift and find such treasures. Ah, life’s simple pleasures and it doesn’t cost a dime except to those of us who must purchase airfare and lodging! LOL THANKS for the cybershelling photo.
Fun! when did you go? I live in Naples- me and my 3 kids would love to join you for a shelling party! Are the piles of shells still there? would it be worth going up in the next day or 2?
Love the cyber shelling! Next best thing to being there! Looking forward to seeing you for 10/08 Shelling Cruise. Thanks for blogging, Pam.
This is just the best site ever!
