The Sanibel holidays and turning into Shelladays!
Shellzam! Kirk (Ohio) and Cheryl combed the beach near Island Inn Resort at 4:30 am with his flashlight walking towards Bowman’s Beach… when Kirk found a JUNONIA! And he found two absolutely perfect ALPHABET CONES along the way too! They need to go play the lotto too because this was their very first time to Sanibel and their first time shelling. Newbie shellers! LOL Congratshellations to both of you!
Blind Pass Sanibel has been bringing in the goods too on a nice sand bar jutting out to catch the shells…
Ready to shell that awesome pile of shells with me? Get your toes in the sand and feel the splash of that salt water on your face while we pick up some shells together in 72 degree weather. It’s just a little overcast but enjoy this beautiful day shelling with me on Sanibel Island…
FYI- December 12, 2013- The parking lot and beach on the CAPTIVA SIDE OF BLIND PASS is closed because of construction equipment but the SANIBEL SIDE PARKING LOT and beach is open (the last I saw) but it could change any moment if the beach renourishment equipment has to transfer to that parking lot. If you want to get updates on this beach project go to CEPD.
Awesome junonia and beautiful alphies!
Thanks Pam, I got to go to the beach today and do some cyber shelling.
Love your videos! I am so excited to be there next year for three weeks.
What a lucky couple, they should definitely get those lottery tickets! Love the cyber-shelling…it’s freezing with a winter storm advisory here in PA so it does the soul good! Wish I was there to hunt in person!
Wow, those are beautiful shells Kirk found, and in the dark no less! Thanks so much for the cybershelling Pam, it was a great way to relax at the end of the week.
Congratulations to the ‘first timers’, keeps the rest of us on the hunt. 4:30am wow, no wonder I haven’t found a Junonia yet, they’ve washed back out or scooped up long before I get get there.
And Pam, thank you for your walk along the beach today. We’re getting ready to leave our SWFL paradise for winter holidays in the north so when I/we can’t get to the beach, your informative, colorful and nature conscientious perspective along your walk is more welcome than a cup green tea or coffee in the morning.
Happy Holidays to you and yours. That’s you Clark.
Here’s a holiday gift, tag line for you
Gone to the Shell-side.
:) Ho Ho Ho.

Such awesome finds. Pam, thanks for keeping us updated on Blind Pass.
We had so much fun and will be back to Sanibel!
Love the Christmas tree-it would make a great Christmas card! Two alphabets and a junonia-what great finds. Hope the great shelling continues. Pat
Thank you for the video!! Loooooooooove it!! Congratulations to the first-timers on their amazing luck!!
I will be traveling to Marathon at the end of January, Is there any shelling there?
Thanks, Louise Keith

Thank you Pam for the new post. I’m coming down at end of Dec for around a month I am very excited and hope to find some of the great shells that you always find. Love the video. So many shells!
Oh wow Kirk&Cheryl, congrats! You have long time shellers very jealous! Nothing wrong with beginners luck. Hope you caught the shelling bug & return for more good luck. Great job guys & I’m proud you went out at that time, yeah for you!
Thanks as always Pam. Keep shelling everyone. I’m stuck in snow.

I was able to shell on the Captiva side last Saturday. I asked the worker if the beach was closed and even though they were working, he said I could go on the beach. It doesn’t hurt to ask! I came home with 44 olives, a beautiful tulip, some murexes, whelks and orange scallops. But the real find was turning away from the beach and finding my first flat scallop all by itself in a tire track from the machinery. How is wasn’t crushed was a miracle. I was thrilled! I think I also found a small piece of a junonia along with a shell I have never seen before and is not on your identification page. I am back home now but enjoying your cybervideo and will be returning for the Cayo Costa day shelling with you Feb. 1st.
A perfect way to wake up this morning…..warmth, the sound of water and seashells! ! We are waiting for the snow and ice storm to arrive for our day here. I will be arriving on Sanibel with the kids and grandkids, Kaitlyn (Junonia 2013), Matthew(Cabrit’s) and Karley. We will be on the shelling trip on the 3rd. The kids are so good now that I won’t find anything, besides their vision is better!!!!
Happy Holidays to all. Sue
Great Shelling, Pam! Exshellent video too. I am here on Sanibel until lunchtime Monday and loving every minute of it! Finding all kinds of cool stuff.
I can still hear the surf as I lie in my cottage writing this, but I loved listening to the soundtrack of your video and hearing the sound the shells make as they rush forward and backward in the swash zone. :)
Pam. I can’t thank you enough for making that video. I’m up here in New England on a ❄❄❄day & what a joy it is to watch it. You made my weekend, thanks so much for all the luv you send us. Right back at ya my dear.

It seems no matter what week I come down there the shelling is either good before I get there or after I leave. Though I was lucky on my visit to find one wentle trap which I’m gonna put in its own small frame and lots of other shells. But you just can’t plan a trip to be there at the exact moment when it’s really good as Mother Nature changes her mind
I cannot say how much I love those shelling videos! I kept seeing how much longer I had because I did not want it to end. I wish you could make one for an hour! :) Thank you! Sherri from MN
I could listen to the waves washing through the shells all day.
