I’m a beach addict. If I don’t get my beach fix on a regular basis, I feel a little off kilter. This past week has been filled with other obligations so I haven’t combed any sand, heard soft waves hitting the shore or even seen a proper sunset over the blue horizon. I’m off kilter. I need some CYBERSHELLING so I figure you might be able to use it too. I picked just a few photos I’ve posted before so I could comb through to find at least one or two treasure then decided a video was needed as well to get me through to my next day on the beach. Ahhhhh…. it really is so therapeutic, isn’t it? Have fun CYBERSHELLING too!
I love your videos and the way you focus without losing control with the excitement of a good find .cant wait to get there because I love shelling. R.G.STEIN
I am the same way – need my sand and surf even if it is cloudy
Thanks for the video. Pictures are nice but the sound of the water can’t be beat. Less than 150 days now til I get to come back!
Some people don’t get that we need our shelling shark tooth hunting as much as we need air. I get my recharge at the beach. It’s what keeps me sane lol and much easier to be around as long as I get my fix regularly.
Thanks Pam!! I needed that!!! <3 (I needed to see that alphie too :) )
My husband and I were saying this summer was a bust for us. He had knee replacement surgery and we did not enjoy the beach. But wait, we now have fall and winter as our summer and hope we can live up to shelling expectations. I needed those photos to help me get through. thank you
Thanks Pam! The sound of the waves sure does make me feel good and puts a smile on my face. Can’t wait till I finally move down there and get to go shelling whenever I want.
I hope you take the flat shell in the middle of the first picture !!!
Thank you very much for sharring, it start a good morning
Makes me want to go soooooo bad!
Thanks for providing a cyber shelling fix! I also got another one when going through the AAA Midwest Traveler, and found you and Clark mentioned in “Coming Out of Your Shell”. All signs point to Sanibel Island it seems!
Like I said before Pam, you have O.C.S.S.D. just like me.
Obsessive Compulsive Sea Shell Disorder !!
OCSSD sisters! Lol
Pam,
You haven’t missed a thing as far as shelling. Been here since Sunday and it has been slim pickens. Last year I was getting all kind of “rollers” in the surf but too rough and off colored to see them now. Not many new shell piles, been checking blind pass everyday except today. We leave early am Thursday, so hitting my local beach.
Have picked up quite a few olives, turkey wings, jewel box, murex (lace and apple), welks, horse conch, fighting conch, auger, cerith, one turban, and a worm shell, along with a large assortment of scallops.
Love the website. Keep the vids coming. Will be back next year, probably in October.
Happy belated anniversary !
Mike from Texas
Although the shelling this summer hasn’t been as good as last year, it still sounds like you picked up a few treasures at least. It makes the good shelling days even sweeter. Thanks for the update Mike! Hope to see u next year
My husband and I will be arriving the first week of October, does this mean the pickings will be slim then also? We haven’t been to Sanibel in 9 years and it was amazing the amount of shells we found at that time!!! I am obsessed with shelling and I’m getting nervous that I might be disappointed!!!!! Can’t wait!!!
Love the cyber shelling it the next best thing to being there, keep those videos coming it’s what is going to get us through this winter! SHELL ON!
Thanks Pam. I needed that. It was soooo much fun. I wanted to reach out and pick them right up.
Thanks Pam for the cyper shelling.
Oooohohhhooohhh! Love that excited sound you make Pam! You KILL me with these videos!! Love them!! Keep em coming!!
oh my gosh pam, the shell fairy was with you. I think you should ask santa clark! to get you a go-pro camera for Christmas.that way you could put it on your head and have two hands free to shell and blog at the same time!!!!! hehehehehe. joining you on the sept 12th cruise to cayo costa with my sister holly. we are bringing our margarita shelling buckets with hopes of finding great shells! see you then.
I remember that margarita bucket- I’m looking forward to seeing y’all on the cruise!
I’ll take panel 6 — the alphie, nutmegs, tulips, and beautiful scallops caught my eye.
Can’t wait til October Sanibel trip …
I have to ask, was panel 6 staged or is that how you found it? I wanted to reach into my screen and pick up all those great shells!
Hi Jeanne!
That was a photo from a post a few years ago that shows Sue’s shell finds. Now that I think about it, I should have added the link to the posts each of the photos comes from. Darn. Oh well, this is the post from “panel six” and to answer your question, no… These weren’t found on the beach just like this. These were shells she had found and already rinsed off. http://www.iloveshelling.com/blog/2011/01/12/virtual-sheller-alert/
Thanks, Pam. No matter what, I so enjoyed cyber shelling this morning.
Hi Pam! I’ve left your little gift at the front desk of Island Inn in a bag with your name on it. We’re at the beach if you have time to say hello. We’re in front of the Kimble bldg. We’ll keep an eye out for you. If not this time then next time!
Thank you!
I am just the same I have to have a beach fix or I am not a happy bunny.
Love this post Pam. Despite having been there last week, I was already in need of the sounds and sights of Sanibel. There’s nothing like it for peace of mind and relaxation. While there I spent most of my time at the Light House, shelling with tweezers for mini’s and wentletraps. Rolling around at the waterline I found an arrow dwarf triton. A few minutes later I found a teeny tiny juvenile arrow dwarf triton in the same place (had to use a magnifier to be sure what it was). What I thought you might find interesting is that the spot where I found them in the water was the same spot where Gil and I found them on the beach last year.
Omigosh! Sue! Thats so cool that you found not only one but TWO. Shellzam! I’ll have to go looking- I only have one and I’m not even sure exactly where i found it (or it could have been clark- heehee) since i didtn know what it was.- I’m sure it was lighthouse but “where” is the question so I want to find another one! thanks for sharing. xoxo
When I’m down in Oct I’ll get a more detailed description of the spot for you. But in general it was near the usual mini/wentletrap area just around the point headed towards the pier.
Love cyber shelling! I will be there next Thursday and on the Friday Shelling cruise! Cant’t wait!
Wow! Thanks! I really needed that!
