With the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it’s nice to have just a calm quiet moment on the beach.
Finding a few shells along the way makes the moment even more special.
Running across creative seashell beach art is the icing on the caked sand.
Fabio M. posted a picture on the iLoveShelling Facebook page of their exshellent Sanibel version of a Snow Globe. Fabio and his wife made Sandy the Shellman (his new name!) mostly out of ARKS, CALICO SCALLOPS, DOSINIAS, SLIPPERS,and JINGLES… and a PEN SHELL nose.
After admiring their beach art masterpiece, I made up a song to commemorate Sandy The Shellman…
…
Sandy, the Shell Man was so happy he could yell
With a SLIPPER scarf and a PEN shell nose
And two eyes of JINGLE shells
O, Sandy the Shell Man
Was alive on Sanibel
On this sunny day, he could laugh and play
As we all do as we shell.
Their seashell beach art warms the heart…
I hope they don’t mind but it looks like the Seashell Fairy left a few additions to their art.
Just in case you need a breather from your busy December life too, take a break and walk the beach with me for 5 minutes. Its an instant de-stresser! Click on the video…

Beautiful art created from the gifts from the Creator.
Is it best to have the seashell sifter when beach combing on Sanibel?
Thank you for the quiet moment. How special!
Beautiful!! I cannot believe how calm the water is there today. I guess I just imagined that in the winter months the water is always churning & there’s a lot of clouds. But then again, you’re in SW Florida for goodness sakes!!!!!
The one day my hubby & I were there in April of 2012 (we drove down for the day from Sarasota) the water was so darn rough and there weren’t many shells on the beach. But I was lucky to have felt a horse conch with my foot in about 3 feet of water. (I knew it wasn’t a rock cuz I could roll it around with my foot.) My wonderful hubby battled the rough water–which was really pushing us around–and dove for it. It took a few tries but he got it for me and it was empty! Yay! So that made the day trip worthwhile!!
Anyway, thanks again Pam for another wonderful post!
Oh–and how could I not comment on the shell art in my first post?! That art was so wonderful! Some people are so imaginative and creative. And your song was very creative, too! Great job!
Love the song Pam! :) Merry Christmas!
OMG I just love it !!!!! These posts are killing me, I want to run away back down there right now !!!!
Pam,
Thank you for the cyber shelling de-stresser! Can’t wait until next month when I get to spend some time shelling in Sanibel.
Maria

I am so happy I got to get there to shell I have wanted to do that for so long! thanks for sharing I love the videos I was also lucky enough to have 2 dolphins playing a few feet in front of me at light house beach I have never been more excited!
Terrific shell art!
Thank you for a much needed mid-morning stress reducer… while the scenery and shells are beautiful, when I played it again I closed my eyes and just listened to your soothing voice and the sound of the water!
It is a raining day here so I really enjoyed “going to the beach.” The video was great fun as I pretended it was me picking up those shells. That snowman globe was adorable. Perfect words to go with it!
Oh how I’d love to be there walking on the beautiful calm beach. ONE DAY-you are still in my bucket list…
Lov the shell art.
Janet
Oh I just got to watch the video and I love that it is one continuous take! I think it is really great like that!
Thank you so much for the video!! So soothing!!
My sister and I were there last week and found great shells on Englewood beach and Boca Grande. It was well worth the drive, we found many sharks teeth as well.
I really liked the snowman and your song. However, your walk on the beach was what I really needed today. I just buried my mother after a long battle with cancer. The peace of the beach has helped more than you could know. Thank you for everything you do for all of us and I wish you and Clark a very Merry Christmas and happpy, healthy new year. I hope I get to see you again in February when I am there.
Oh Katherine, im so very sorry for the loss of your mother. May her memories give you comfort in such a difficult time. I hope to see u in february sweetie
My family experienced a sorrowful familly death this week and your video of the calm beach walk is very comforting.
Thank you and have a Blessed Christmas.
Katherine I feel like I know you from your posts. I lost my mother almost 10 years ago. She lived with me and was an invalid for 7 years. I didn’t realize how hard that had been on me until I started to unwind after her passing. Where did I go to unwind-Sanibel. The beach allows you to be sad and alone when you want to and joyful with friends when you want that. It is the perfect place to regain your balance. I placed a thimbleful of her ashes in the surf and every year I come back and stop there to talk to her and she always helps me find a really neat shell.
May your good memories of your Mom soon outnumber the bad ones of her illness. Hugs to you.
Thank you Pam, Cindy and Marilyn, I appreciate your kind words. She was only able to come to Sanibel with us once (she was just too sick to come back) but she loved it and immediately felt it’s magic. I know what you mean about the beach Marilyn, and I am looking forward to the peace and healing. Thank you.
Pure heaven. Thank you!
Love sandy the shellman! I always love seeing your posts, they really are de-stressors!
Fabio & I noticed the post. We love the song and the shell fairy additions!! Thank you for sharing the photo on your blog. We both love visiting Sanibel and have been visiting this site to help identify some of our finds. Happy holidays to you (and Sandy)!
