After five days, the mound of shells that built up at Blind Pass Captiva last week is still producing exshellent finds.
There was a QUEEN HELMET found this morning!
Donna and Ray from North Carolina were sifting through this shelltastic pile this morning…
when Donna found that cutie little QUEEN HELMET, a SCOTCH BONNET, 2 ALPHABET CONES (a perfect one minutes after I snapped this photo), LETTERED OLIVES, APPLE MUREXES, CERITHS, AUGERS, CHESTNUT TURBANS, FIGHTING CONCHS and gorgeous CALICO SCALLOPS.
Matt and Monika from Ohio found a spot on shell mountain to dig out some gold too.
It was the first time visiting Sanibel and Captiva for Wenjin from New Jersey… she was in shell heaven!
Its the perfect paradise ending to 2014 with 80 degree sunny weather and seashells piled a mile high. Heaven on earth.
I took a random CYBERSHELLING shot on the top of the pile when I first got there. I hope you find a few goodies! (Warning: If you like KITTENS PAWS, you might want to take a big breath before you click on this next photo. heehee)
Well happy new year to all who are there!! On your mark, get set, GO!!!!!!!!
Enjoy for me,

Oh the Kittens Paws and Augers that I see in that photo!! And how gorgeous the water looks in the background on your photos!! I wish I was there so badly. Happy New Year to Pam and all my fellow shellers!!
Happy shelling and happy new year!
Oh heavens…12 days and counting! Hoping there are still remnants of that shell pile when we arrive!
We were excited to spot you in bright yellow this AM and wanted to tell you how much our entire family enjoys your site but you sped out of Blind Pass on to your next shelling adventure so we’ll just say thank you for your parking spot!!
Hi Ann from Atlanta- I’m sorry I missed y’all! I really didn’t want to leave but I didn’t want to miss my tennis match today (hence the bright neon tennis ball yellow/green outfit- hahaha). I hope y’all found some treasures and hope you got to meet some of the other fun shellers sitting and sifting on that pile. oh and Thank you so much for the kind words about my blog! :)
Zowie! Terrific shell pile!!! What a pretty tiny queen helmet.
How long will “shell mountain” remain? I won’t be down there for another month. Can’t wait.
Thanks for all the posting, Pam.
Hi Phyllis! Fortunately, we never know how long the shells will remain on the beach. I say “fortunately” because thats what make shelling so much fun- you just never know what’s going to be on the beach until you get there. Every day is a surprise!
We were there yesterday and had a blast. Hoping to go back in a couple of days when the traffic dies down some. :O
I am already dreaming of coming back after a few spectacular shells I found there! I love blind pass esp near that jetty!
Kim in Novi, Mi
p.s. I left a little piece of my heart there on Sanibel island its right there at blind pass!
I would love to be there! I’d probably feel so overwhelmed, and want to take everything!
Hello. My friend and I are going over to Sanibel/Captiva to do some shelling. How do I find the shell mountain? Thank you.
Check out my map here- its Blind Pass Turner Beach- just over the bridge from Sanibel to Captiva… http://www.iloveshelling.com/blog/parking/
Thank you Pam!
I just keep drooling over the photos and I think all of us feel blessed that we can be a part of Captiva/Sanibel shelling through your generous, fun posts. I’ve got about 5 of my friends hooked on this site – including my husband.
Happy New Year and again, thanks so much!

Thats so cool Janice- Thank u! This is a special place and we share a special “hobby” together so its my pleasure to post this magic of our islands. Happy new year to u too!
Hi,
We seem to be getting some shell piles here at Mitchell’s. My son and I found two alphabet cones this morning and one excellent Florida cone too. My 7 year old granddaughter found a beautiful lace murex when the tide started to build the pile again this afternoon. Isn’t this weather grand!!!!!!!!
Oh!!! I knew in my heart I needed to go to Blind Pass today!!! We’re 2-2.5 hours away from Sanibel while in Fl for Christmas break (from KY). Traffic & parking was rather busy today so my family & I settled for one of our faves ~ Bowman’s! But, these pics almost make me want to drive right back and fight traffic/parking!!! Hmmmm, maybe that’s something to consider…
Sure wish we were there—negative degree wind chills here today, so thanks for warming me up with your post!
Excited to be back even for a short while…I’m headed to the pass this afternoon. Praying for a parking spot then great shelling:-) Shellabaloo 5
I saw 3 pieces of agatized coral mixed in with the beautiful shells. Hope someone was lucky enough to pick those up too! Happy New Year! I hope everyone is blessed and has a wonderful 2015!!
It just isn’t fair – it was so cold in Cholla Bay (Mexico) that I didn’t even unlock the gate to walk the beach and there you all are in shorts sitting on a pile of shells.
“sigh” what did I do wrong, I’m going to stomp my feet, and pout!!!
Don’t ever quit your site – you are my feel good of the day.
Happy New Year – I’ll make it yet. Janet
