We found a huge “Sit ‘N Sift” shell pile on Cayo Costa during our iLoveShelling shelling adventure with Captiva Cruises yesterday.
As always, there’s always a lot of sharing shells when awesome shellers get together.
Every single step through the island was a great exploration while hanging out with new friends.
While Michelle from Michigan was finding a few shells by snorkeling in the water….
Her daughter Mandy found a SUNRAY VENUS.
Lauren, Aaryn, Elizabeth, Jason and Jordan (Alabama) found lots of SUNRAY VENUSES too.
They found like 15 double SUNRAY VENUS shells plus a Lauren found a huge empty WHELK that will look beautiful when all cleaned up.
Cindy, Shelby, Steve and Madi (TX) were so much fun to hang out with.
Madi found lots of LETTERED OLIVES just at the waters edge. Thanks again Madi for the cute photo on Instagram!
The water was so warm and clear Lauren, George and Beth (NY) stayed in the water just about the whole time on the island.
Andrew, Mark and Daniel (NY) felt the same way. Mark told me that the water was still so cold up in Log Island so it’s a treat to be able to play in the warm water of the Gulf Of Mexico.
The water must be cold in Michigan too because Todd and Michelle were loving the water too. :)
Martha found a sweet BABYS EAR when she combed the tip of the island…
Look at that baby…. a baby Baby Ear.
After I snapped the photo of Marth’s BABY EAR, I waded into the water to check for shells since the water was so clear then saw a big black blob way out in the water… a MANATEE! I started my video to see if I could catch its cute little nose come out of the water…and then it turned for the beach… and head straight for me! And then… I started squealing. OMG so embarrassing that my voice goes into the highest silliest pitch you’ve ever heard. Hahaha You think I was a little excited?
Funny And amazing, huh? So who found those nice shells in the first photo? They were found by Noa and her mom Joann (Utah)… big smiles for a great day.
And I just had to get a picture of me with cutie shellootie Shelling Sistahs Tanya and Tammy from Texas who showed up in their cutie shelling tee shirts together. Love these girls.
Like every iLoveShelling cruise, everybody received a $25 Gift Certificate from Congress Jewelers– Fun day!
I have new dates for all iLoveShelling beach combing adventures for 2015 and into January 2016!

Ken and Candace (brontosaurus)
if you click on the shelling cruise link that Pam provides, it will take you to the company’s website. all the info is there once you start clicking away. that’s all i did and we’re signed up for the sept. 2nd cruise!
Xoxoxoxoxo
I am also interested in this trip, and did go to the website. I shows it is a 4 hour cruise, and the price. I was wondering how long are you actually on the beach shelling? Thanks
when i called them they told me it’s about an hour to get there, two hours to shell, and about a hour back. they were very nice when i called.
whoops – “an” hour back.
A little over 2 hours.
I can’t view the video-I have watched other ones. Still having trouble typing messages. great shells everyone found
Oh Pat- Im so sorry, I’m working on the videos. Hopefully soon. Could you be more specific on whats wrong with the commenting problem? I looked into it but couldn’t find anything.
I think the YouTube videos are fixed!!!!
The manatee video doesn’t say youtube. It keeps saying “sorry can’t play video.” writing comments is much better-the words are coming up right away. The area where you post the date and number of comments is very faint-old eyes have difficulty reading now. I know you’re doing your best to fix everything. Is there something we could click so we don’t have to enter our name and e-mail every time we want to write a comment? Pat
Still working on it Pat. Cant figure it out yet if you still can’t see it. what did you say you are trying to view it on? Kindle?
I’m using a barnes & noble nook.I have been having trouble with some youtube videos. I had watched the Bowmans beach video and now I can’t??? Pat
How come the Island Inn Sanibel webcam page isn’t working ?
I could see the webcam yesterday, but not this morning. hmmmmmm
I think the web cam is fixed!
I love the first picture…I can almost hear the little wave crashing over that cockles 😃
:)
So cool about the manatee. I’ve never seen one come towards people before. What a great experience.
I was so surprised! (could you tell? hahah)
I would have been too – but my squeals would have been louder. haha
LOVE the manatee video! Had a similar experience with three of them once. Amazing gentle giants! Glad you are so good to inform people not to touch and to just enjoy the moment :)
Pam – just noticed that your 2016 cruise dates are showing as 2015 dates. :-)
Hi Amy- rasher frasher. I’ll try to fix that. So sorry- I hope I put the right dates- Thanks so much for letting me know!!!!
Beautiful !! Can’t wait to visit. What happened to the webcam at Island Inn Sanibel ?
I think they are working on their website too. I just tried to look at it on my iPhone and it did t come up for me either. I’ll try to find out when that will be up and running again.
Thank you, Pam ! It’s working now. Keep up the great work <3
I hope to someday get on one of your shelling trips! Last time I was there, you had one but it was when we were leaving! :( Wow! That’s so fun! Something about Cayo Costa and manatees. One year my sister and I got to see a mama and her calf. I think it was the calf who swam right up to me! It was so awesome. The boat captain snapped a picture of it. I’m standing there so excited (sounding just like you!) while my sister is running away! Such a funny pic. I should try to find it! Love your new site! Thanks for all of your hard work! It’s my link to Sanibel when I can’t be there. I loved your critter pics from your backyard!
