They must have been using some really good bait to catch that beautiful rainbow off the Sanibel fishing pier this afternoon. They even got a two-for-one on the line… it was a double rainbow!
I was combing the beach to look for shells but I couldnt take my eyes off the incredible changing sky.
It was another special treat to see this live LIGHTNING WHELK that went right back in the water where I found her after I snapped the photo. There were lots of empty common shells lying up on the beach but I didn’t keep any this weekend. I just wanted to enjoy the beach, healthy live creatures and I even enjoyed the rain. Without the rain, there would be no rainbows.
I don’t usually go that far past the pier shelling. Is that a mistake? Could go down from the parking lot used by the fishermen. Do you have a new camera…fantastic color and crispness.
Pam, the double rainbow picture with the palm tree, just breathtaking!! The colors in the water, just beautiful!! Thanx for sharing. Can’t wait to be there in May. Seems too long a wait. SIGH!
Gorgeous rainbow shots Pam!
GORGEOUS pictures !! You make me long for ” home”!!
I always think double rainbows are good luck. So pretty!
Wow–the colors in that double-rainbow photo are blowing my mind!!! All the glorious colors of the rainbow, added to all the blues & aquas that are part of the sky and the water, and finally, add to that the greens of the palm tree and the shrubs. It’s Mother Nature at her best!
Hey Pam, I just noticed that you don’t have the Purplish Semele on your Seashell Identification page, even though you have one (a little bit worn) here:
http://www.iloveshelling.com/blog/2012/08/01/dear-fragile-seashells-please-dont-break-on-the-way-home/
Actually although I have found the other two semeles, I don’t think I have ever found that one on Sanibel.
Is the purplish one the rarest of the three?
Thanks.
Pam, I have learned so much from all the information you have provided. I am having trouble with the new site, I have an iPad and I can no longer pinch and open the page. My eyes are not what they used to be! Ha!
Love the photos. You definitely have to put the top photo on canvas.
Gosh, I don’t usually go that direction from the pier. The few times I have I haven’t gone far or found much. Maybe I need to go further next time. Which will be very soon. 4 weeks and counting. But you have no shelling cruise this year during my visit. I was hoping to try little Hickory? I am going to Cayo Costa with Capt Brian though :)
Wow, most beautiful photos ever. Double rainbow over the pier should be on the chamber of commerce website. :) Thank you, counting down to the last week of October!
