The Sanibel Lighthouse beach has been a long time favorite place of ours to search for the mini shells. The evening was cool and breezy so to take a nice walk from the gulf side to the fishing pier over the weekend was delightful. Our beloved little WENTLETRAPS were scattered along the mid tide line along with a a few adorable little DUSKY CONES. Of the 5 we found, the last one we picked up I believe (the one on the far left by the cutie little pink COQUINA half) is an ALBINO DUSKY. It doesn’t look beach worn and there’s not a speck of color in it. Hmmmmm. Score!
Clark and I are now on the mend from fighting that awful cold/flu/”crud” that zapped us both from every ounce of energy and zombified our brains for a number of days- yuk! Taking a short walk on the beach was just what the doctor ordered- ahhhh we both feel much better. For us, getting outside in the sunshine is always the best medicine and searching for shells on the beach is the perfect follow up therapy.
Nice! Glad you are both feeling better.
Shells are the best therapy no doubt! Super early next Saturday I am off to Nevis for 4 weeks. Hope the waves and winds cooperate in throwing up some cool shells for me. :)
So glad to hear that both of you are feeling better. Thanks for sharing the cones. I was at Rehoboth Beach, DE this past weekend. It’s always nice to get to the beach – but it’s just not the same as being in Sanibel.
Wentletraps! I’m swooning.
Wow that beach sounds awesome! Where abouts is it! In America.. Being from Australia I have been over there but didn’t get to any beaches in which I would love to visit! So love shells! 💞Love reading your posts… Cheers Caress 💕
Sanibel island is on the SW gulf coast of Florida. Is Awsome! Across a causeway from city of Fort Myers, Fl.
Hey Pam, big fan!
Was wondering how the water was looking – will be heading down to Sanibel in 2-3 weeks and I’ve been reading reports of dead creatures washing up on the shore and brown water from Okeechobee. how bad is it right now?
I’m on Sanibel this week. Where is a good place to shell?
Everywhere…you are on Sanibel! Always hit lighthouse, Gulfside, Blind Pass, Bowman’sBeach and don’t forget in front of where ever you are staying! Hit the beach and walk! Early and low tides are very good, but you never know what will peak out of the sand or waves. Gifts are all there. So wish I were with you to show you my favs.
Well said Marie ! Big hug :)
I really enjoy your posts and videos. We used to go to Ft. Myers Beach and Sanibel Island annually for 3 months in winter. I had many health problems and a leg amputated, so we haven’t been since 2009. I LOVE shelling and really miss it, so I am living my shelling experiences through your awesome videos. I am also learning more about my collection through all the information you post. Thank you so very much. I look forward to your next video.
Beautiful!! The weather was so perfect this weekend too!!! See you in June after school is done. :-)
I will be back in SW Florida on May 22. I hope that I will finally find one or two wendletraps. So it is the mid tide line, were I should look for them? Too bad that you do a trip in June 8, just when I have to catch my flight back. Would have been so great to do a shelling tour with you again!
Kind regards from still cold Germany.
Kerstin
Flu shot Pam! :) Hitting the Island for a second time June 18. (sent you a pic 3 years ago of our whole condo porch covered in shells). Can’t wait.
Pam – I’m coming to Captiva on Sunday for just under a week of time in my fav slice of paradise. And I signed up for the Captiva Cruises Tour with you on Monday at 1pm. I’m so looking forward to finally meeting you!

Yay! I’m looking forward to it too :)
