Beautiful! I left a comment on facebook as well, but a friend & I will be joining you on your June 8th cruise to Big Hickory!!! we would love to go out to Harns Marsh to collect some snail shells as well. Any tips for us? We read your blog post all about it & we are excited to go check it out. We are excited to meet you on the 8th!
Melanie, I have been there 3 times since Pam first posted about it. I found that when I took my shelling back-hoe (I have the blue one), I could use it to pick up the shells that were in the water or muddy. It made it much easier. I also brought a big plastic bag to put everything in inside my car. The shells are pretty dirty (and possible ants and spiders) until you get them cleaned up. It’s an adventure, but the amazing shells are worth it. Have fun!!
I’m just seeing this today, but Happy Mother’s day to all (and also the mother’s of furry children – :) )! We spent yesterday driving home from NC. Tom and I spent the weekend on Portsmouth Island where you posted about in March. We did not find as many shells as you did – I think because it is later in the season and more people have been on the beach. However, we had an amazing time. Tom drove me up and down the beach in our utv and would stop whenever I spotted shell piles to look thru. Now I just have to get everything cleaned up. Thank you for posting about it Pam. If you hadn’t, I would never have known about this great place to shell.
Yay for Mother Nature, the mother of us all. :)
Very impressive Mother’s Day Artwork! Thanks for sharing today!
